How it all began

Established 2015 in the small coastal town of Arbroath, Scotland by father-son duo. Spada expanded to Edinburgh in 2023 under Lead Instructor & Founder, Brodie Toriati.

Expertise

Brodie's background in multiple forms of Martial Arts & Swordsmanship has not only assisted him in HEMA competitions throughout Europe but also specialising in running sword workshop events.

Credentials

A qualified Personal Trainer with over 7 years experience running group fitness classes. Would follow Aragorn to the ends of the Earth.

Profession

An Actor & Stuntman known to perform these very, same medieval techniques in Film & TV.

Are there any requirements to join?

Members need to be 18 years and older. No prior training is required. All levels welcomed.

Want to get involved?

We can only accept new students on the first week of every month (Wednesday and Thursday classes only). It is not possible to join outside of the set trial classes.

Please note, trial dates and availability can vary each month.

Do you accept walk ins?

Please do not show up unless you are booked and confirmed for a trial class. Should we have a fully booked class, you run the risk of being turned away and we would hate for this to happen.

Please make sure you get in touch to be informed of the next steps to book your trial spot.

What do beginners need to know?

If confirmed for a trial class on Thursday, we ask beginners to arrive at 6pm for an introductory short lesson before the main class.

Wednesday trial classes will only need to arrive for the class starting time.

Dress code is active wear. Please bring water. Equipment is provided.

What are your booking options and costs?

We no longer offer free trials. You can pay by single lesson, monthly membership or a set number of classes.

Once joined, you are given full access to our booking system to book classes at your leisure. All classes are open to all levels and can suit beginners through to advanced members, as variations can be offered to suit different needs.

You can of course, enquire about pricing before joining.

Please be aware, once you have booked your trial, if you need to reschedule, this will need to done outside of 24 hours. Within 24 hours, full charge applies.

How do I get there? Is there parking?

Both Murrayfield Parish Church & the MES Sports Centre can be accessed by popular routes such as Lothian/Midland Buses 12, 26, 31, 38, X18, X19, X38 and Airlink 100.

The MES Sports Centre is approximately a 10-15 minute walk from the Murrayfield Rd, bus stop.

Street parking is available at Murrayfield Parish Church & Parking for the MES Sports Centre is allocated to the left of the Astroturf fields.

To find the MES Sports Centre, gymnasium, there are two entrances. You can enter from the reception and walk down the main hallway, past the Games Hall and then turn right and follow to the end of the hall where you will then see the gymnasium. There is also an entrance when arriving from the car park. It will be in front of the Astroturf fields where you will see a covered opening between buildings, there will be a door to your right before the concrete opening of the back of the school.
